Ken Shipp was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee and played college football at Middle Tennesse, graduating in 1947. Shipp's association with the CFL was one year as an assistant coach with Montreal in 1960, but his main claim to fame was as the Head Coach of the New York Jets in 1975. Shipp took over a 2-7 Jets team and was 1-4 as their head coach for the rest of the season. Shipp was also an assistant coach with St. Louis and New Orleans in the NFL. Before going to the pros, Shipp had stins in the U.S. coileges with Trinity, Tulsa, Florida State, South Carolina and Miami. Ken Shipp passed away on March 5, 2012. |
