Sydney Halter served as the on the Winnipeg Blue bomber executive from 1934 to 1953, including one year as president in 1942. Halte rhen went on to become the first commissioner of the CFL from 1958 to 1966. Among Halters other accomplishments were being president of the Canadian Amateur Athletic Unoin from 1938 to 1946 and Commissioner of the WIFU (the future West division of the CFL) from 1953 to 1957. Halter was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1966, and to the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. Halter was also knighted by Queen Elizabet II..
