Erik Campbell played football at Michigan (1984 to 1987) and soon after graduating started his career as a coach serving as a graduate assistant at Michigan in 1988. Campbell wnt on tobe an assistant coach at the U.S Naval Acadamy (1989-90), Ball State (1991-93), Syracuse (1994) and then back with his ama mata Michigan for 13 years from 1995 to 2007. Campbel then moved on to be an assistant at Iowa before coming to the CF. Campbell joined the Montreal Alouettes as an assistant coach (receivers) in 2013.
With boththe Alouttes and quarterback Troy Smith struggling early in the2014 season, Campbell was released by Montreal and replaced byTurk Schonert.
