DIVISION SEMI-FINALS
Nov 14 - HAMILTON (11-7) 27,
Toronto (9-9) 6 (21873) - The
Tiger-Cats forced five turnovers including an interception for a score.
Hamilton recovered four of eight Argo fumbles and picked off Jimmy Kemp
once. CB Shino Prater raced 53 yards for a TD late in the fourth to cap
the scoring
Nov 14 - CALGARY (12-6) 30,
Edmonton (6-12) 17 (25305) - Dave
Dickenson threw a pair of TD passes before half as the defending
champions coasted. Dickenson threw for 289 yards. Nealon Greene was
16-of-29 for 181 yards for Edmonton, which earned the final playoff
berth based on point differential.
DIVISION FINALS
Nov 21 - Hamilton (12-7) 27,
MONTREAL (12-6) 26 (19461) - Hamilton
RB Ronald Williams plunged for a 1-yard TD with 1:37 left, and scored
three TDs to help Hamilton advance to the Grey Cup for the second year
in a row. The defense forced Montreal to turn the ball over on downs in
the final minute.
Nov 21 - Calgary (13-6) 26,
BRITISH COL (13-5) 24 (28236) - An
injured Dave Dickenson limped off the Calgary bench to lead a
4th-quarter drive that set up Mark McLoughlin's 24-yard FG with 1:24
left. QB Damon Allen fumbled away BC's last chance, after the Lions
rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit.
1999 Grey Cup (November 28
at Vancouver - 45,118)
HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (13-7) 32,
CALGARY STAMPEDERS (14-6) 21 - Danny
McManus threw two TD passes to Darren Flutie, including a key
seven-yard strike to open the fourth quarter, to give the Tiger-Cats
the Grey Cup for the first time since 1986. McManus, who completed 22
of 34 passes for 347 yards, was the outstanding player. Stampeders QB
Dave Dickenson, playing with a painful shoulder injury, led a pair of
TD drives in the third quarter to cut a 22-0 lead to eight. But
Hamilton assumed control early, and despite Dickenson's third-quarter
heroics, never appeared threatened. Hamilton's steady offensive line,
which set a CFL record with only seven sacks allowed this season,
easily handled Calgary's defensive front.
