could muster altogether.

DIVISION SEMI-FINALS
Sun Nov 8 - OTTAWA 20, Montreal
16 (17754) - When Nelson Skalbania purchased the
Als in April, CFL officials predicted that the franchise would prosper.
Instead, the Als were inept, qualifying as the team with the poorest
record to make the playoffs, and lost about $2.5-million. With 36
seconds left, QB Ken Johnson, nine yards from the Ottawa goal, fired a
strike to Chuck McMann only to see the ball knocked away by Larry Brune
and Rick Sowieta.
Sun
Nov 8 - British Columbia 15, WINNIPEG 11 (32936) - Lions RB John Henry White picked up 158 yards on 17 carries,
including a 50-yard run midway through the fourth quarter that helped
set up a FG. Winnipeg QB Dieter completed 24 of 37 passes for just 177
yards.
DIVISION
FINALS
Sun
Nov 15 - Ottawa 17, HAMILTON 13 (28104) - QB Tom
Clements threw three costly interceptions, including one to Glenn Cook
in the Ottawa end zone when the Ticats were ahead 13-7 and 13 yards from
the goalline. Rider QB J.C. Watts completed 19 of 39 passes for 311
yards, but his clutch scrambling was particularly beneficial. He gained
46 yards on six carries.
Sun Nov 15 - EDMONTON 22, British Columbia 16 (52861) - Warren Moon threw a 33-yard TD pass to Brian Kelly with a
little more than five minutes left to give the Eskimos the win. The
Lions led by 16-9 at halftime and were still ahead, 16-15, after three
quarters. Moon completed only seven of 20 passes in the first half, but
finally began to connect in the fourth quarter.
1981 GREY CUP GAME AT MONTREAL
(Sunday, November 22 - 52,478)
EDMONTON ESKIMOS 26, OTTAWA ROUGH
RIDERS 23 - The Eskimos entered the game as 22
1/2-point favourites. But someone forgot to tell Ottawa. Led by rookie
quarterback J.C. Watts, the Riders jumped to a surprising 20-1 advantage
at halftime. Warren Moon made up for his earlier gaffes with a TD pass
with less than five minutes remaining. A successful pass to Marco Cynear
for a two-point convert tied the score, setting up some late-game
dramatics. With three seconds left in regulation, veteran place kicker
Dave Cutler booted a 27-yard field goal to send the Eskimos to the
record books. It marked the last game for Ottawa’s Tony Gabriel in his
Hall of Fame career. Gabriel played the final with an injured left knee.
