MONTREAL 41, Hamilton 20 (41,382) - Don Sweet's fifth convert was the Montreal kicker's 155th consecutive successful attempt, a new record. Dickie Harris also established a record with his third TD on a punt return this year

Sat Nov 10 - CALGARY 37, British Columbia 2 (31,424) - QB Ken Johnson was a standout for Calgary, connecting on 28  of 36 passes for 467 yards. Ten passes went to Willie Armstead, who had 197 yards, including a 50-yard TD early in the third. Johnson struck for two more TDs in the quarter, hitting James Sykes from 25 yards and Mike McTague from 20 yards
Sun Nov 11 - OTTAWA 29, Hamilton 26 (25,540) - The Tiger-Cats trailed 23-10 at halftime but fought back to a 26-26 tie in the final moments before losing on a 32-yard FG by Gerry Organ. The Ticats generated 330 yards in offense compared with 253 yards for the Riders. But Hamilton hurt its chances with three interceptions, two fumbles and 141 yards in penalties

Sat Nov 17 - MONTREAL 17, Ottawa 6 (35,103) - A 69-yard interception return for a TD by Larry Uteck gave Montreal a 14-6 lead at 12:58 of the fourth and the Als went on to their fifth Grey Cup in six years. Don Sweet kicked three FGs, a 45-yard single and a convert to complete the scoring
Sun Nov 18 - EDMONTON 19, Calgary 7 (43,033) - With 2:40 left in the second quarter, Calgary led 3-0. With 40 seconds left, they were down 14-3. The abrupt Eskimo explosion, with Warren Moon throwing TDs to John Konihowski and Brian Kelly, changed the complexion of the WFC final

1979 GREY CUP GAME AT MONTREAL (Sunday, November 25 - 65,113)
EDMONTON ESKIMOS 17, MONTREAL ALOUETTES 9 - The Eskimos and Alouettes battled each other for the Grey Cup for the fifth time in the 1970s. Edmonton QB Tom Wilkinson throw a 43-yard pass to Waddell Smith for the  initial TD of the game. The Alouettes responded as Don Sweet kicked FGs from 38 and 45 yards out before halftime to cut the Montreal deficit to 7-6. Sweet would give the Als their only lead of the game in the third quarter on a 29-yard FG. But Warren Moon, who replaced Wilkinson, restored Edmonton’s lead by driving the Eskimos 75 yards in six plays, including a 33-yard TD pass to Tom Scott. Dave Cutler made it 17-9 when he booted a 38-yard FG. Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
