Synopsis
Interprovincial play started in the West in 1911 and it started a rivalry that has been often hot and heavy in the years since. The Regina Rugby Club (later to the the Roughriders), won the Saskatchewan title, but defaulted a game against Winnipeg when Winnipeg infomred them the weather was dangerous for travel. The Winnipeg club then claimed victory and went west to play the Calgary Tigers in the West final. Who said it all started with Troy Westwood and the banjo bowl?
In the East, the University of Toronto finally lost a game after two undefeated seasons, but they still went on to win their third straight Grey Cup - at this point the only team to have thei rnames engraved on the cup. In the IRFU, the Toronto Argonauts pulled themseves to the top to claim that title and a spot in the semi-final. Over in the ORFU, Toronto Parkdale had vanished and a second team had formed in Hamilton called the Alerts. The Alerts won the ORFU, but lost to the Argonauts in the semi-final. That victory gave the Argos thei rfirst berth in the Grey Cup, but they were doubled by the Varsity Blues 14-7.
