Chuck Zapiec was an excellent linebacker for Ottawa and Montreal for 7 years from 1972 to 1978. In those seven years, Zapiec was an East All-Star four times (1974, 1976,. 1977 and 1978), and a CFL All-Star twice (1977, 1978). Zapiec joined Ottawa in 1972, playing just seven games but making an impact with 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recovieries. Zapiec added 2 more interceptions in his second season with Ottawa, despite playing in only seven games. Zapiec joined Montreal in 1974, the first of five years (1974-78) with the Als. In his first season in Montreal, Zapiec had a career high 3 interceptions, including one ran back 38 yards for a TD. Injuries limited Zapiec to just 3 games in 1975, but then bounced back in 1976 to win his second East All-Star honour with four fumble recovieries, including one for a touchdown. Zapiec then was a CFL All-Star in his final two seasons, with four fumble returns in 1977 and 2 fumble returns and 2 interceptions in 1978.
