Woznesensky played for six different tems in his eight year CFL career. To some that might indicate a "journeyman" career, but Woznesensky was an excellent Canadian defensive lineman who perhaps didn't get the credit his career deserves. Part of the of the reason might be the lack of defensive statistics kept during that era. There were no tackle stats kept and sack statistics were not kept until 1981 whil Woznesensky started his careeer in 1977. Officiall, he has 36 career stats, but his numbers would be significantly higher. Woznesensky recorded 14 sacks in 1981 with Saskatchewan and 15 in his final year with Calgary in 1984, numbers that are impressive by anyone's standards.
Woznesensky was a territorial exemption of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1977 and spent his first two seasons with Winnipeg. He was part of a huge trade in February of 1979 when he was sent to Calgary along with rB Richard Crump and dB Merv Walker for the great defensive lineman John Helton and offensive lineman John Malinosky. After one season with Calgary, Woznesensky was traded again, this time with LB Campbell Hackney to Hamilton for future considerations. After one season in Hamlton, Woznesensky became a free agent and was signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he played in 1981 and 1982. 1981 was Wosnesensky's best season as his 14 sacks earned him a Western All-Star spot. The Riders traded Woznesensky to Toronto along with DB Marcellus Greene for RB John Lowe and DB Leo Gray in June of 1983. After playing six games for Toronto, Woznesensky was picked up on waivers by Montreal where he finished he 83 season. Montreal traded Woznesensky to Calgary in March of 1984 for QB Gerry Datillio. Woznesensky played his final season with Calgary in 1984, recording 15 QB sacks, which somehow missed All-Star recognition.
