Wlasiuk played 11 years in the CFL, from 1957 to 1967. Wlasiuk was a native of Winnipeg, played his junior ball there with the Rods, and started his pro career with the Bombers. After two seasons (1957-58), Wlasiuk moved to the Riders where he remained for the rest of his career, including 1966 when he was part of the first Rider Grey Cup victory. Early in his career, Wlasiuk was used both on offense as a running back, and as a defensive back. After that, he was used pretty much exclusively on defense. Wlasiuk didn't win any All-Star honours, but he was a solid defensive back, twice having as many as 5 interceptions in a season, and with a career total of 27. Wlasiuk was also one of the West's top punt returners during his career. He led the West with his 10.4 yard average in 1959. In 1962, Wlasiuk led the West in returns with 70 and yards with 407, including one for 67 yards and a TD. In 1965, he led the West in both number of returns (78), yards (528) and average (8.7). In the Grey Cup year, Wlasiuk again led he West in retturns with 84 and yards with 486. Wlasiuk's punt return average might seem a bit low by today's standards, but Wlasiuk played his entire career in an era where there was no blocking on punts. Wlasiuk proves his versatility and value to the team by showing up in numerous statistical catagories, including punting where he filled in as the team's emergency punter when the starter went down with an injury.
