Williams was selected in both the 1992 NFL and CFL drafts. The Phoenix Cardinals took him in the 9th round (239th) while Calgary drafted him in the first round (7th). After signing with Phoenix, Williams was released and bounced around NFL practice rosters in Dallas, Chicago and Buffalo. Williams did dress for five games with Chicago in 1993. Calgary signed him in September of 1995. Williams was traded to Toronto for QB Dave Dickenson. After one pretty good year (60 catches) in Toronto, Williams was granted free agency in February of 1997.
