Tyrone Walls

Walls was a tight end with Edmonton and BC from 1972 to 1978, and one of the last of a dying breed as the CFL was switching over to slot backs instead of tight ends and split ends.  Walls' best year was his rookie year when he caught 50 passes for 811 yards, both career highs, and earning him his first of three West All-Star selections at tight end.  Six of Walls' receptions went for touchdowns and he added two more touchdowns on fumble returns.  Walls also won West All-Star honours in 74 with another 50 catch season and 1975 with only 31 catches in 12 games- perhaps an indication of the decline of the tight end.  Walls rebounded to 48 catches in 1976, his last year with Edmonton.  Walls played parts of two seasons with BC in 1977 and 1978, but didn't come close to achieving the numbers her put up with Edmonton.  Wallls made three appearance in the Grey Cup with Edmonton, losing 1973 and 1974, before getting his Grey Cup ring in 1975 as Edmonton edged Montreal 9-8.
