If you are compiling a list of the best offensive linemen in the history of the CFL then Walby's name has to be on the list, if not right at the top of the list. In his 16 year career from 1981 to 1995, Walby won more divison all-star honours (11) and more CFL All-Star honours (9) than any other player in the history of the CFL. The All-Star years were as follows (asterisk indicates CFL All-Star) 1984*, 1985*, 1986*, 1987*, 1989*, 1990*, 1991*, 1992, 1993*, 1994* and 1996. Walby also twice won the CFL award for Most Oustanding Offensive Lineman in 1987 and 1993. Walby was also the runner-up for Oustanding Offensive Lineman twice in 1990 and 1991. Walby started his career with Montreal. He was a first round draft pick (fourth overall) in the 1981 CFL college draft. In a move that they probably came to regret more and more over the years that followed, the Als released Walby after only 5 games in the 1981 season. The Bombers signed Walby and certainly never regretted it. Walby was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
