One of the best offensive guarsd in CFL history, Vercheval was a second round draft pick of the Edmonton Eskimos in the 1987 CFL College Draft.  Rather than join Edmonton immediately, Vercheval went to training camp with the NFL New England Patriots in 1988 and was released.  Vercheval then signed with Edmonton for the remainder of the 1988 season and played for Edmonton until 1992.  In his last year in Edmonton, Vercheval received his first division and CFL All-Star honour.  Vercheval became a free agent after the 1992 season and signed with Toronto in August of 1993 where he remained for another five years until the end of the 1997 season.  Vercheval won three more division All-Stars in those years with Toronto (1994, 1995 and 1997) and two more CFL All-Star honours (1994 and 1997).  A free agent again after the 1997 season, Vercheval signed with Montreal where he played his final four years from 1998 to 2001.  Vercheval won three more East and CFL All-Star honours with Montreal in 1998, 1999 and 2000 to bring his career totals to 7 division All-Stars and 6 CFL All-Stars.  Vercheval was also named the Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2000 while with Montreal.  Vercheval was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
