Vernon Vaughn is a member of the Maryland State Sports Hall of Fame, class of 1977. Vaughn was a seventh round draft pick of the New York Giants in 1958. Vaughn joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1958 and played three seasons for the green and white on both sides of the ball. On offence, Vaughn played end with his best season coming in 1959 when he had 39 catches for 511 yards. On defence, Vaughn played linebacker and recorded three interceptions, also in 1959. After the 1960 season, Vaughn returned to Maryland State and completed his degree in Industrial Arts.
