Bruce Van Ness

Van Ness played his college football at Rutgers for the Scarlet Knights of the East Coast Athlentic Conference (ECAC).  An outstanding and versatile player who played five different positions for Rutgers, Van Ness was named to their Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.  Van Ness was a fifth round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons but he came North and joined Montreal in 1970, playing four games and helping the Als win the Grey Cup that season.  In 1971, Van Ness had an excellent season with 555 yards rushing and 39 catches for another 512 yards.  Besides playing running back, Van Ness was a backup QB, throwing two touchdown passes and filled in as a punter.  Van Ness was named to the East All-Star team in 1971.  Van Ness passed away on November 5, 2007.
