Born in Calgary, Bob Torrance was one of the last Canadian quarterbacks to play any significant time at the position. Torrance went to the Universityh of Calgary where he led the Dinos to a 1988 Vanier Cup victory. Torrance was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the third round (22nd overall) of the 1991 CFL college draft. In two years with the Stampeders, Torrance threw a total of four passes. the Calgary native had to go to Hamilton after his release by the Stampeders in July of 1993 to get a real shot at the position. Torrance had moderate success with the Tiger-Cats, complet ing 51.3% of his 152 pass attempts, but with a high interception (12) to touchdown (3) ratio. Torrance didn't play in 1994, and r eturned to Calgary as a backup quarterbacvk for three games in 1995. Bob Torrance passed away on January 10, 2012.
