Thompson dressed for 5 games with Winnipeg in 1953. He served as the backfield coach with the Bombers. Thompson was a QB in the NFL with Pittsburgh from 1940 to 1950. After leaving the NFL, he was an assistant coach with Arkansas in 1951 and 1952 before joining the Bombers in a player coach role in 1953.
