Peter Thodos played junior football in Vancouver before joining the CFL with the Stampeders in 1948. That was the year the Stampeders went undefeated at 12-0 and went East to Toronto with their horses and won the Grey Cup. The Stampeders got one touchdown on an infamous "sleeper" play from Quarterback Keith Spaith to Norm Hill, and the other Stampeder touchdown was scored by none other than Peter Thodos. Thodos played with Calgary in 1949, and then moved East to play two years with Montreal in 1950 and 1951. Unfortunately, there are few stats for those years, and the first available for Thodos are in 1952 when he returned to Calgary. Listed as a halfback, Thodos saw nearly as much action as a receiver. In 1952, Thodos had 61 carries for 222 yards while catching 33 passes for another 524. Thodos was also an excellent kick returner, and in 1952 led the West in Kickoff Return yards with 816. In 1953, still with Calgary, Thodos actually had more receptions with 58 than rushing attempts at 54. This was Thodos's best year offensively as he finished second in the West in pass receptions (only Bud Grant caught more) and was third in the West in scoring with 10 touchdowns. Thodos was picked up by his hometown Vancouver Lions to start the 1954 season, but finished he year with Winnipeg. Thodos played his final two years for Saskatchewan in 1955 and 1956. While not seeing the ball as much offensively (22 carries and 4 catches in 1956), Thodos contributed on kick returns. In his final season, he was third in the West in Kickoff Return yards with 425 and led the West in Punt Returns with 363. Keep in mind there was no blocking on punt returns then. There was little Thodos couldn't do. Besides running, catching passes and returning kicks, Thodos also played defense and filled in as a punter and place kicker during his career. He even threw two touchdown passes. Peter Thodos passed away on December 25, 2011 in Vancouver. No official individual stats were kept in the West until 1950 and in the East until 1954.
