A former Western Ontario Mustang, fullback Blake Taylor played two seasons for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1951 and 1952. Taylor wanted out of Hamilton to join the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen of the ORFU in 1953, but the Tiger-Cats would not put Taylor on waivers for fear he would be claimed by another Big Four team. When the other teams finally agreed to waive Taylor, it was too late for him to join the Dutchmen as the signing deadline had passed. ORFU teams refuesed to waive the deadline for Taylor and so he ended up sitting out the 1953 season. In 1954, Taylor finally did join Kitchener-Waterfloo and was an ORFU All-Star.
