Tim Strickland came out of the University of Mississippi and signed with the Montreal Alouettes as a free agent in May of 2002. Strickland started his career as a defensive back, but was converted to play outside linebacker. It was a very successful conversion as Strickland won three East All-Stars at linebacker in 2003, 2004 and 2006. Strickland brought great speed and pressure from the outside linebacker spot, recording 23 career interceptions in his six season with Montreal from 2002 to 2007. Strickland had a career high of 7 sacks in 2005. Strickland also recorded 8 career interceptions and 6 career fumble recoveries. Strickland had two career touchdowns, one on an interception return and one on a fumble return. Strickjland played in four Grey Cup games, winning one in his rookie season in 2002, and losing three in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
