Joe Stracina was born in Montreal, but went out West to play his first year of professional football with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1952. Stracina returned East in 1953 and played with the Lakeshore Alouettes intermediate team in 1953 and 1954 before joining the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1954. Stracina remained with Ottawa from 1954 to 1960 (the Ottawa all-time roster does not list him for 1959) and then Stracina joned the Montreal Alouettes for four seasons from 1961 to 1964. Stracina was best known as an offensive lineman, playing center and guard, but he also, like most players in the 1950s, saw action on both sides of the ball and recorded a pair of interceptions in his career. Early in his career, Stracina was actually a running back with Saskatchewan (three carries for five yards) and with the Lakeshore Als. Joe Stracina passed away on August 13, 1996.
