Angelo Snipes played his college ball at West Georgia and was drafted in the 14th round by the USFL Oakland Invaders in 1985. Snipes was traded to Memphis in the USFL in February of 1986 for past consideratgions. Snipes became a free agent when the USFL folded in August of 1986 and signed witgh the Washington Redskins of the NFL. Snipes was released by the Resskins in November of 1986 and then had have short stintls with the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Snipes signed as a free agent with Ottawa in May, 1991 and played three seasons (1991-93) with the Rough Riders. Snipes really exploded in his second season with Ottawa in 1992, recording20 quarterback sacks to lead the CFL. Snipes was borth an East and CFL All-Star at linebacker and was named the Outstanding Player and Defensive player in the East division. Ultimitely, Snipes was the runner-up for the CFL awards in both catagories. It was hard to top that season, but Snipes stil had an excellent 1993 with 14 quarterback sacks and was named to his second East all-star team. After the 1993 season, Snipes was traded to the BC Lions along with defensive tackle Andrew Stewart and guard Denny Chronopolous for defensive lineman Kent Warnock and BC's second and fourth round draft picks.Snipes had another 11 quarterback sacks for the Lions in 1994. Snipes becmae a free agent afte the 1994 season and signed with the Birmingham Barracudas for 1995, recording another 17 quarterback sacks. With the folding of the American teams after the 1995 season, Snipes was drafted in the first round of the dispersal draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Snies played one final season, recording 17 quarterback sacks and winning his third division All-Star and his second CFL All-Star. The 17 sacks tied for the CFL lead.
