A graduate of New Mexico State, E.A. Sims was a 15th round draft pick of the Baltimore Colts in 1961.  Sims refused to report to the Colts and instead signed in 1962 with Edmonton.  Sims played nine years in the CFL from 1962 to 1970, mostly with Edmonton, but finishing his career with the B.C. Lions.  Sims played both tight end and defensive end in his career.  Sims had more success as a defensive end, but still caught 30 passes in his best season as a receiver in 1968.  Sims won two Est Al-Stars at defensive end in 1965 and 1966 and two CFL All-Stars in 1966 and oddly enough in 1967 when he wasn't named to the division all-star team. Despite being an All-Star at defensive end in 1967, Edmont tried playing Sims at tight end and linebacker in 1968.  In October of that season, Edmonton released Sims and he was signed by the B.C,. Lions. Sims completed the 1968 season with the Lions, and also played for them in 1969 and 1970 though only for a total of five games. E.A. Sims passed away on August 5, 2010.
