Joe Siepi was born on February 9, 1924 in St. Catherines, Ontario. Siepi played two years of High School football at Hamilton Technical High School with the team going undefeated in his junior season. Following high school, Siepi played under Glenn Small for the Eastward Park team where his teammates included Rudy Haber and Louis DiFransisco, who would also go on to play for the Wildcats. Siepi joined the Hamilton Wildcats of the ORFU where he played End for two seasons from 1944 to 1945. Siepi's teammates at Hamilton included the great Joe Krol in 1944. Siepi reported his career highlight was the game when he blocked two placekicks by the great Annis Stukus, one on a convert and one on a fieldgoal.
