Billy Shipp was a star at Alabama, playing in the Sugar, Cotton and Senior Bowls in his career. Shipp was drafted by the New York Giants of the NFL and played one season for them in 1954. LIke many players in his era, Billy Shipp played both offense in defense. In fact, in his rookie year with Toronto in 1955, Shipp was an East All-Star both at offensive and defensive tackle (there were no CFL All-Stars until 1962). In 1956, Shipp went to Montreal partway through the season, and remained with the Als for four more years. Shipp won another East All-Star at offensive tackle while with Montreal in 1959. After the 1960 season, Shipp returned to Toronto where he played another five seasons, finishing his career in 1965, but not before adding another East All-Star in 1964 at offensive tackle. Billy Ship passed away on June 9, 2011. [Note: Wikipedia lists Shipp's DOB as October 16, 1929 but most other sources have it as October 16, 1930 including the 1965 Toronto media guide and his obituary - see below.] Billy Shipp In Team Picture of 1956 Montreal Als - November 20, 1956 Billy Shipp in 1965 Toronto Media Guide
