Ralph Schoenfeld was a star quarterback for the Saskatoon Hilltops junior team and tried out with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1967. The Riders released Schoenfeld and he went to Winnipeg where he dressed for 12 games. Schoenfeld served as a backup quarterback and also did some punting for the Bombers. In 1968, Schoenfeld had another tryout with the Bombers, but was released before the season started and he ended up playing senior football with the St. Vital Bulldogs. In 1969, Schoenfeld was recruited to play for the University of Manitoba Bisons, but was ruled ineligible since he had been paid as a professional in 1967. Scchoenfeld did play basketball for the U of M. Schoenfeld returned to Saskatoon where he coached both football and basketball at the high school level and also was an assistant coah with the Saskatoon Hiltops and the University of Saskatchewan.
