Davis Sanchez has had a reputation as being brash and cocky, but then he is one of the few Candians in recent years to win a job as a starting cornerback in the CFL - a hallowed spot normally reserved for imports. Born in Vancouver, Sanchez played his college ball at Oregon and was a first round draft pick (sixth overall) of the Montreal Alouettes in the 1999 CFL College Draft. Sanchez played two seasons with the Als (1999-2000), winning both East and CFL All-Star honours in 2000 as he had 9 interceptions. Sanchez's play caught the attention of the NFL and he signed as a free agent with the San Diego Chargers after the 2000 season. Sanchez returned to the CFL wit the Calgary Stampeders for he 2003 season. Davis was traded back to Montreal for 2004 in exchange for wide receiver Andrew Noel and Montreal's second round draft pick. With the Als in 2004, Sanchez won his second East All-Star selection. Sanchez moved on to Edmonton in 2005 as a free agent. After one season with the Esks, Sanchez was traded back to Montreal for defensive lineman Rob Brown and defensive back Reggie Durnden. Sanchez played with the Als from 2006 throiugh 2009, winning a third East All-Star in 2008. After losing in the Grey Cup in 2000 and missing the 2002 Als win, and losing again in 2006 and 2007, Sanchez finally got a Grey Cup win in 2009 as the Als beat Saskatchewan on a last play field goal. Looking for more youth and perhaps for salary cap reasons, Sanchez was released after the 2009 season and was signed as a free agent by his hometown BC Lions. Veteran B.C.
