Ricky Ray

Ray joined Edmonton in 2002 and took over the #1 QB job from Jason Maas. Ray had a strong rookie season with 2991 yards passing then upped it in 2003 to 4640 in a year that saw Edmonton and Ray revenge their Grey Cup loss in 2002 by beating the self same Montreal Alouttes 34-22.  Ray's performance caught the attention of the NFL and he went south to try his luck in 2004, returning to the CFL and Edmonton in 2005.  In 2005, Ray threw an amazing 714 passes, completing 67% of them for 5510 yards in an All-Canadian season.  Edmonton beat Montreal again in the 2005 Grey Cup, with Ray being named the outstanding player in the game.  Ray had another 5000+ season in 2006, though the team didn't share that success as Edmonton finished out of the playoffs.  2007 was almost a repeat of 2006 for both Ray and Edmonton, with one exception.  Edmonton again finished out of the playoffs, despite Ray completing 69.9% of his passes.  Unfortunately for Ray, he was injured and missed the last third of the season.
