Dan RashovichRashovich was drafted in the second round (thirteenth overall) in the 1984 college draft. After one season in Ottawa, Rashovich was traded to Calgary in May of 1985 along with WR Dwight Edwards for QB Bernard Quarles and WR Phil Charron. Before he could play any games for the Stamps, however, Rashovich was traded in June of 1985 to Toronto for WR Emanual Tolbert and LB Darrell Nicholson. After two seasons in Toronto, Rashovich was selected by Montreal in the "competitive balance" draft, but Montreal folded before the 1987 season started and Rashovich was drafted by Saskatchewan in the dispersal draft. Rashovich settled into Saskatchewan and played thirteen seasons (1987-1999) with the Riders, becoming a fan favorite. For the most part, Rashovich was a backup linebacker and special teams player, but when he got the chance to start, Rashovich showed he could play. Rashovich's best years came in the stretch from 1990-92 when he stepped in as a starter and made 80, 62 and 72 tackles and was a 1990 Western All-Star in 1990. The other career highlight for Rashovich would be the 1989 Grey Cup win for the Riders. |
