Ted Provost was an import safety from Ohio State who played 5 seasons for the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1973 to 1977. Provost's best two years were his first two in which he was a West All-Star both seasons. Provost had 5 interceptions in his first season, including one returned for a touchdown and 4 in his second year in 1974. Provost missed almost all of 1975 with an injury and unfortunately is sometimes remembered more for the final play of 1976 than for his excellent play as a defensive back. That last play was the Tony Gabriel touchdown pass to give Ottawa the Grey Cup over Saskatchewan.
