Matthieu Proulx was born in Plaster Rock, NB, which seems like an unlikely place for a a future CFL player to be born, but then Gordie Howe was born in little Floral Saskatchewan. Proulx attended Laval, just as the school was blossoming into a powerhouse in CIS football. Proulx was then drafted in the first round of the CFL college draft by the Montreal Alouettes. Proulx would play six years with the Alouettes from 2005 to 2010 on special teams and at safety. Proulx finished with 9 career interceptions, including a career high of four in 2009, three fumble recoveries, nine pass knockdowns and two quarterback sacks. In his six seasons with the Als, Proulx went to five Grey Cups, losing the first three times (2005, 2006 and 2008), but coming up a winner in his final two seasons in 2009 and 2010. Unfortunately for Proulx, an injury in the East Final in 2010 kept him out of the Grey Cup game. Fluidly bilingual, Proulx is looking at a career in the media after his playing career.
