A graduate of Texas Southern, Leroy Paul joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a rookie defensive back in 1979. Paul moved to Hamilton in 1980 and played three seasons for the Tiger-Cats, recording 13 interceptions and picking up an East All-Star honour in 1981. Playing for Toronto in 1983, Paul added another 4 interceptions and picked up his second East All-Star selection. Paul's final season was split between Toronto, Ottawa and Saskatchewan in 1984. Paul finished his career with 18 pass interceptions and 7 fumble recoveries.
