Steve Patrick played his entire 13 year career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1952 to 1964. Patrick played both ways, winning two West All-Stars on defense as a Middle Guard in 1958 and 1959. There were no CFL All-Stars until 1962, near the end of Patrick's career. Patrick played in six Grey Cups with the Bombers, winning four and losing two. In a bit of an oddity, all six games were against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the two teams made a habit of meeting in the Grey Cup in the 1950s and early 60s. Hamilton won in 1953 and 1957, but Patrick and the Bombers were on the winning end in 1958, 1959, 1961 and 1962. Beyond football, Patrick was highly successful in both business and in politics. Patrick opened an insurance business in 1956, marking the start of a 50 year career in business. In 1962, Patgrick was elected the Manitoba Legislature, where he served until 1977. Patrick was very involved in the community with many charitable organizations and groups including the St. James Cancer Society, Canadian Paraplegic Association, Big Brothers, Misericordia Hospital Foundation and the Rotory Club. Patrick's lover of sport and his talent was also passed on to his son Steve who playd in the NHL. Steve Patrick is a member of both the Blue Bomber and Manitoba sports Hall of Fame. Steve Patrick passed away on January 11, 2014. Steve Patick in the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Discussion Thread on Bomber Forum Site on Passing of Steve Patrick
