Palma was a second round pick by Hamilton (13th overall) in the 1983 college draft. After dressing for all 16 games in his rookie season with Hamilton in 1983, Palma was t raded to Winnipeg in September of 1984 for a fourth round draft pick in the 1985 college draft (which turned out to be Dale Sanderson). Palma dressed for the Bombers in the 1984 Grey Cup game. Winnipeg released Palma in July of 1985 and he was signed by Calgary in September of 1985.
