Bob Paffrath started his career with Ottawa in 1946, then played one year with the Toronto Indians of the ORFU in 1947, before rejoining Ottawa for two more seasons in 1948 and 1949. Stats are limited for those years, but Paffrath recorded 8 touchdowns and 40 points (touchdowns were only worth 5 points thein) with the Rough Riders in 1948. Paffrath won an East (Big Four) All-Star selection at quarterback in 1948 and a second team All-East that same year (Big Four & ORFU combined). Switching to Flying Wing (modern equivalent would be Flanker or Slot Back), Paffrath won another East All-Star in 1949 as well as a first team All-East. Paffrath came West to Edmonton where he played three seasons from 1950 to 1952. With Edmonton, Paffrath saw action on offence mainly as a receiver with a couple of 26 catch seasons.
