Bob O'Neil was an outstanding three sport athlete (Baseball, Football and Basketball) In football, On'Neil was an offensive guard who played his college football at Duquesne (1950) and Notre Dame (1951-52). O'Neil was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 15th round of the 1953 NFL draft. O'Neil's debut with the Steelers was delayed two years as he served in the Air Force during the Korean war. O'Neil was stationed in France and played in the French Rugby League during that time. O'Neil joined the Steelers 1956 and played two seasons in the steel town. O'Neil came North to the CFL and played with Calgary in 1958, 1959 and the start of the 1960 season. O'Neil was traded in mid-September, 1960 to Montreal for defensive end / linebacker Ted Foret. O'Neil returned to the States in 1961 to playe one season with the New York Titans of the AFL. Bob O'Neil passed away on April 29, 2012.
