John Olenchalk played college ball at Stanford and was signed by the Montreal Alouettes after a free agent camp in LA. Olenchalk impressed at training camp in 1978, but was felled by an injury during the exhibition season and missed the entire regular season. Olenchalk finally got his chance, dressing in the East final and in the 1978 Grey Cup. Olenchalk saw significant action in those games, playhing inside linebacker in the Als' 3-4 set. Unfortunately for Olenchalk and the Als, 1978 was the start of the five in a row Grey Cup victories by the Edmonton Eskimos. Injuries kept Olenchalk out for the entire 1979 season and after anothe r try in training camp in 1980, he was released by the Alouettes. Olenchalk returned to the States and played with the Kansas Cithy Chiefs of the NFL in 1981 and 1982. Olenchalk played one game for KC in 1981 and 9 games in the strike shortened 1982 season. Following his football career, John Olenchalk has had a very successful career as a broker.
