The speedy Oldham came out of the Universityh of Oregon andsigned with the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1970. Oldham played five seasons with the Rough Riders (1970-74) though his first season was certainly his best. In that rookie season, Oldham had only 45 catches, but still passed the magic t housand yard mark with 1043 yards and a superb 23.2 yards per catch average. Oldham also hyad 13 touchdowns and all of this in only 14 games. Oldham's reception numbers declined over the next four seasons, but he remained a strong deep threat for the Rough Riders with yards per catch averages all over 19 yards per catch. Oldham fnished with 169 career catches for 3504 yards. Oldham won a Grey Cup withOttawa in 1973 under the quarterbacking of a pair of future Hall of Fame rookie quarterbacks in Tom Clements and Conredge Holloway.
