Bob Minihane

Bob Minihane was a defensive tackle from the University of Boston,  and was drafted in the later rounds by both the NFL and the AFL in 1961. The Boston Patriots took Minihane in the 25th round and the Cleveland Browns took him in the 19th round. Minihane ended up in Canada, however, signing with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1961.

Minihane would go on to play three seasons in the Steel City from 1961 to 1963. Those were the days that Hamilton and Winniipeg were near constgant companions in the Grey Cup. The Bombers, coached by the great Bud Grant, beat Hamilton in both 1961 and 1962. In 1963, the BC Lions faced Hamilton in the Grey Cup for a change of pace and Minihane and the Tiger-Cats came away with a victory.  1963 was also the Grey Cup with now infamous hit by Angelo Mosca on BC star running back Willie Fleming that put him out of the game.

Minihane moved to Montreal in 1964 and toiled for five seasons (1964-68) for an Alouette club that was in no real danger of making it to the Grey Cup. Minihane did win an East All-Star at defensive tackle in his second last season in 1967.
