Metcalf was a highly publicized running back with NFL (five years with St. Louis from 1973 to 1977) experience. He played three seasons with the Argos from 1978 to 1980, and had decent if not the spectacualr seasons that were expected. Metcalf put up simllar numbers in his other t wo seasons, 691 yards in 1979 and 554 yards in 1980. In many ways, Metcalf had more of an impact as a receiver out of the backfiled. He caught 31 passes in his rookie season, finished second in the East for catches in 1979 with 55 and added another 51 in 1980. Metcalf was an East All-Star in 1979.
