Bucky McElroy was born in Monroe, LA and played his college football at Southern Misssissipp where he is considered one of the best players in the history of that school. In three seasons, McElory ran for over 2500 yards. McElroy was named to the Southern Mississippi Hall of Fame in 1967 and the Misssissippi Hall of Fame in 1981. In 2011, McElroy w as named to the prestigious Southern Mississippi Legends Club. McElroy was draftedin the seventh round of the 1953 NFL college draft by the Chiago Bears and played one game for them in 19544. In 1955, McElroy joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a running back. McElroy had a very good season that year, rushing for 621 yards with six touchdowns in just eight games for Hamilton. William (Bucky) McElory passed away on July 18, 2012.
