Bobby Marlow was an All-American back at Alabama and a first round (eigth overall) draft pick of the New York Giants in 1953.  Bobby Marlow played eight years in the CFL for the Saskatchewan Rughriders from 1953 to 1960. Marlow was one of those great two way backs of the 1950s, equally adept at offence or defence.  While he never lead the league in rushing, for his first six years from 1953 to 1958, Marlow was consistentlly in the tox six or seven in rushing in the West and finished as high as third in his best season in 1954 with 882 yards.  As a receiver, you could count on Marlow for about a dozen catches a year, though he had a big year in 1956 with a career high of 32 catches. The 50s was a time of great running backs, with guys like NOrmie Kwong, Johnny Bright, Earl Lunsford etc. picking up the All-Stars, but Marlow was a key offensive performer for the Riders during that period. As a defensive player Marlow collect five West All-Stars (there were no CFL All-Stars until 1962). Three of Marlow's All-Star selections were at defensiv eback (1953, 1954 and 1955) and two were at linebacker (1956 and 1957).  Marlow as know throughout the league as both a hard runner and a hard tackler.
