After playing junior football with the Ottawa Sooners, Maloney joined the Montreal Alouettes in 1972 and impressed the coaches with his mobility and strength. Maloney played for two seasons with Montreal (1972 and 1973) as a center and defensive tackle.
Mike Maloney passed away on October 9, 2007.
