A quarterback standout with the NDG Maple Leafs in Canadian junior football, Maddocks had a brief stint with the Alouettes in 1963 as a reserve player. He did get to throw 8 passes as quarterback, however. He was released on July 31 1964 at the conclusion of the pre-season. Maddocks later coached the Maple Leafs in their final year (1973).
