Doug MacIver was a territorial protected pick in the 1975 CFL college draft for the Winnipeg Blue bombers, out of the University of Manitoba. MacIver, however was traded to Montreal before the 76 preseason for a second round draft pick. Montreal released MacIver after two preseason games and he was then signed by Toronto. MacIver played three seasons (1976-78) in Toronto, dressing for every game. Among the highlights of his three years in Toronto was MacIver's only career toudhdown, scored on a fumble recovery in his rookie season. Toronto released MacIver after the 1978 season and he was signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he played three seasons (1979-81). After the 81 season, MacIver was traded to the team that had originally drafted him, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, for running back Jimmy Edwards. MacIver played his last three seasons for he Bombers, and was part of the 1984 Grey Cup winning team. Doug Maciver passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at age 58.. Doug MacIver Passes Away at 58
