IJim Letcavits played college football at the University of Kansas before coming to the CFL. Letcavits played five seasons for the Edmonton Eskimos (1958-62) before finishing his career with one season in Montreal in 1963. Letcavits was mainly a wide reeiver, but he could also fill in as a punter as he did during his rookie season with Edmonton.
Following his playing career, Letcavits was an assistant coach and head coach of his alma mater in Massilon, Ohio.
Jim Letcavits passed away on February 3, 2015 at the age of 79.
