King was drafted out of the University of Toronto in the first round (fourth overall) by the BC Lions in the 1992 college draft. While playing mainly on special teams, King showed some flash running the ball in limited use as he picked up three touchdowns. King was released in June of 1993 by the Lions and later pickd up by Toronto in August.
