After playing his college football at Kentucky State, Kenerson played in the NFL with the Los Angelas Rams in 1960 and with the New York Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers in 1962. In 1963, Kenerson came to the CFL and played two season with the Ottawa Rough Riders where he acquired a reputation as a tough, agreesive defensive lineman. Kenerson normally played defensive end, but was sometimes shifted inside to the tackle spot when needed. Kenerson was picked up by Montreal on waivers at the start of the 1965 season and played four games for the Alouettes before being released in late August.
