Kelly played outside linebacker (and a bit of safety for Winnipeg in the last couple years of his carreer) for four different CFL clubs and despite putting up some pretty good numbers had All-Star recognition elude him. Kelly started his CFL career with the ill fted Los Vages Posse when he signed with them in April of 1994. When the Posse folded, he was drafted in the first round by Toronto in a dispersal draft. After one season with the Argos, Kelly became a free agent in February of 1996 and signed with BC where he played two season. A free agent again in February of 1998, Kelly signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and played 1998 and 1999 with them. Kelly then left the CFL and returned to rejoin the Bombers for two final seasons in 2003 and 2004. Besides being an excellent linebacker, Kelly was a strong special teams tackler.
